Cutting the Glass

I have begun cutting the glass. All I’m using is a ruler and an x-acto knife. I score the plexiglass 5-7 times, then bend the glass till it snaps. Make sure you watch for shards and bend it away from your face. It’s as sharp as glass. Keep looking for updates!

Keep in mind the glass is not in yet, I simply slipped the glass in the slot.

Stencils

I haven’t updated in awhile because I’ve been waiting for the decal paper to come in. I ordered it on eBay since I was only a dollar a sheet instead of 25 dollars for 5 sheets. Because there is a delay I figured I’d give you a sneak peek at the stencils that will be used for the ice.

My friend who is cutting these for me is still in the process of cutting some more for me the we will begin the airbrushing of the ice.

I will give an update as soon as the decals come in and they are on the players.

If I have to wait another week I will show some of the scoreboard before I begin on it.

Got a Scoreboard!

I was able to pick up this beautiful table on Thursday. Most of the parts for it are useless to me. However this came with an amazing scoreboard set up, complete with sensors and commentary.

I stripped it down and may sell some of the parts to fund the table even though funding for this table is not a problem.

I will have more pictures of the scoreboard and wiring when I create a new housing for it. This step will be near the end of the project and for now is sitting in a shoebox labeled “scoreboard parts”.

The players are made with an identical mold. The only difference being that two players on each team have a shorter stick and the connecter on them is made of a longer piece of metal. I am hoping to cut this down and grind it in order to fit the gears on the Gamecraft table.

Today I began painting the Montreal Canadians players. I started with red and then had to go to dinner.

When I came back I started on the blue, but only got to do two of the players.

Primed and ready to go!

I’ve finally done it! The players are now ready for painting. Acrylic would have probably been fine but I used white enamel primer from a spray can. I may have to do one more layer but it will be a light one.

I’ve learned one lesson and that is when they say “spray in a well ventilated area.” they mean spray in a well ventilated area, not just open a window.

I plan on painting next week but I’ll see, I may start this week if I have some time.

The tedious part is OVER!

All Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday I spent in front of the TV after work. Sanding the players as I pay partial attention to the shows my wife was watching. Monday was easy though. I think I was paying more attention to the MNF game than the sanding. Well it took me 13 hours but the most tedious part is over.

I’m now going to be giving the players to my friend Mike, who will be using an air brush to prime them, so I can begin painting.
